The 2014 and 2015 robots were in attendance at the launch of the Unley Library’s Reboot Digital Literacy program it project plan.
University of South Australia and Rostrevor High School
On Thursday, September 24, a group of students from Rostrevor College visited the Mawson Lakes campus at University of South Australia. Adam and his son, Liam, demonstrated both the 2014 Aerial Ascent and 2015 Recycle Rush robots to the senior computing students. After a discussion about the building process and programming, the students drove the robots, avoided crashing into anything (which was considerably better than what Adam had achieved in the demonstration), and asked enough questions that it seemed almost every conceivable topic was covered.
Special thanks to the university for the opportunity, and the Rostrevor students for being such a great group to demonstrate to.

FRC 2015 Sydney Regional Competition Photos
Ready, Set, Rush!
Teams from Australia and around the world took part in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition (FRC) regional event at the Sydney Olympic park sports centre on march 11-14, 2015 project management apps.
Wednesday we unpacked our robot and set it up in out pit area. This is where the robot is worked on and repaired when needed.
Thursday we arrived early to put out robot together and have it inspected ready for our practice matches. We did not pass our first inspection due to electrical issues, a challenge that we overcame.
Friday we arrived early again for the start of the competition. Driving the robot on the field for the first time was exciting and a relief. We designed and built a robot in 6 weeks. and there we were, playing a game called “Recycle Rush”.
Saturday 33 teams from Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, China and Hawaii competed in Recycle Rush. We made it to the quarter finals, where we were chosen by team 5761 (Illawarra) along with 5663 (Rio Tinto Ground Control) but it was unfortunately our last game played at the regional. Congratulations to all teams who competed.
RoboRoos team 4537 were winners of the FIRST® Robotics 2015 Regional Creativity Award sponsored by Xerox.
It was the hardest fun we ever had!
Sydney Comp
The Sydney competition was a funny and interesting event. It was the first FRC competition in Sydney and was at the Sydney Olympics Park Stadium.
It was a great way for people from different countries to see what Australia is. The competition went off really well with the practice rounds, even through we didn’t get our robot out on the field we got to see what the other robots could do.
By the second day we had 4 of our members sing the Australian national anthem. After that we took on the other robots with our robot on the field for the first time and we did really well. Not just that but we had team members walking around talking to other teams and getting an idea what their robots did.
On the third day we came 10th in the qualifiers and 5th in the quarter-finals and we wish to congratulate team 359 Hawaiian kids and their partners 4253 Taipei, TPQ, Taiwan and team 5601 Qingdao Easter Sea Team.
